Overview
SCACL is a unionized agency (CUPE local #1936) with over 50 staff. SCACL is always interested in hearing from individuals that are interested in rewarding employment promoting the citizenship of persons with disabilities.
Hiring Preferences/Qualifications
Preference is for staff with valid Health Care Aide certification, Residential Care Aide certification, or a similar combination of education and experience in the sector. All staff are required to have a minimum Class 5 driver’s license and a valid First Aid certificate. Potential staff will be required to submit to a screening process that includes Criminal Record Check, and a check of credentials prior to being hired.
Casual Pool
SCACL usually hires into their “On-Call”, Casual pool of relief staff. Casual staff provide on call relief for regular staff vacations or sick/medical leave. Most casual work is in our staffed residential care facilities. Once hired into the casual pool, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings. Occasionally SCACL will post externally and hire directly into a position.
